Somewhen Get the app

Somewhen Privacy Policy

Last updated 20 July 2026

Somewhen is an iPhone app that backs up copies of the photos and videos you choose to your own Google Drive. It never deletes or changes anything in your photo library, and it has no servers of its own.

What data the app touches

Everything is processed on your device

Duplicate detection, location lookup, and any on-device intelligence run entirely on your iPhone. Somewhen has no backend and sends nothing to any server we operate — because there is none. The only data that leaves your phone is the photo and video copies you choose to back up, and they go to your Google Drive under your own Google credentials.

Your photos go only to your Google Drive

Somewhen requests the Google drive.file permission. This restricts the app to the files and folders it creates in your Drive — it cannot see, read, or touch any other file in your Drive. You can browse, download, move, or delete the backed-up files yourself at any time.

What is stored on your device

So that no photo is ever uploaded twice and interrupted backups can resume, Somewhen keeps a local index on your iPhone: records of what has been uploaded, the pending queue, on-device classifications, run history, and the rounded location-label cache. This stays on your device.

Deleting your data

No tracking

Somewhen contains no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking. It does not collect data for us or anyone else.

Children

Somewhen is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them.
